40,000 years ago: Europe is inhabited by Neanderthals and Cro-Magnon, a chance happening occurs which will change the course of human history. Over the years, the consequences of this event unfold.

The present: High Caucuses Georgia, Dr Marsha Hunt, an American anthropologist, makes an astonishing discovery.
The same summer: A British teaching couple decide to have a relaxing holiday in the French Alps but they witness something which will change their lives.

So begins a journey where the worst and best of human nature is exposed, unlikely alliances are formed and individuals risk everything in order to correct a happenstance in nature which, if left unchecked, will lead to our downfall.
Most people want the same thing, to be able to get on with their lives peacefully and strive for happiness wherever they can. The problem seems to be with leaders and those wanting power, these are the individuals who are responsible for causing strife in the world.
